Oct.22 (GMM) The Spaniard Fernando Alonso thinks previous team-mate Lewis Hamilton is in a strong position to become the first winner of the Korean GP this weekend, following the Englishman finished third to himself and pace-setter Mark Webber on Friday. With Webber’s Red Bull on top from Alonso, Hamilton and Robert Kubica, four different teams filled as many places atop the second practice session classification. However, the double World Champion of 2005 and 2006 is not selecting Ferrari as favourites for Sunday’s win.
“As usual, the Red Bulls seem very competitive and the McLarens appear to be very strong here,” Fernando commented.
“In fact, Hamilton qualified third at Suzuka and I reckon he is one of the favourites to win this Grand Prix.
“However, I think the situation is different to that in Japan, where the championship leaders were clearly the favourites; here, we and McLaren could do something interesting.”
