Hispania Racing fined $5,000 for tyre warmer mishap

Oct.22 (GMM) F1 governing body the FIA has confirmed that Hispania Racing was handed a fine of 5,000 dollars (3,200 pounds) after Friday’s second free practice session at the Korea International Circuit.

The fine came following a bizarre incident during the session, which saw the car of Sakon Yamamoto being released from its garage with a tyre warmer still attached. Realising the error, two mechanics entered the pit lane in order to recover the loose object – but breaking safety rules by doing so.

In addition to the fine, an official reprimand has been issued.
